GYC Rehearsal - German Pop Songs and Classical Songs (90 minutes) | Fortnightly Sundays

Founded in 2019 by the German Honorary Consul’s Office in Brisbane, the German Youth Choir brings together passionate young singers from across the city, from German immersion schools, the German Saturday School, local German organisations and the wider Brisbane community.

The choir performs at key events such as at the German National Day, Oktoberfest events, Brisbane German Week, as well as school celebrations and public concerts.

Open to singers aged 9–18, no prior musical or German language experience is required. Under the leadership of Beatrice Klepper, Germany-trained classical vocalist and elementary music educator, rehearsals build vocal technique, confidence, and a strong connection to the language and its culture.

Whether fluent or new, experienced or fresh to singing, young voices are invited to grow musically, connect culturally, and join to belong to a supportive community.

German Kinderlieder | 30 minutes | Fortnightly Sundays (after GYC rehearsal)

The Singkreis at the German Club is a relaxed, family-friendly German song circle for children aged 4–8, held at the Brisbane German Club directly after the German Youth Choir Brisbane rehearsal. On fortnightly Sundays, following the Youth Choir rehearsal approx.. from 12:15 PM), children can join Beatrice for around 30 minutes of German Kinderlieder — playful songs, simple musical participation, and culture through music, with Beatrice accompanying on guitar.

There are no fees. Children who are already on the premises with their parents are welcome to sit and listen — or to join in and sing. Parents are welcome to stay with their child, especially at the beginning, until they feel comfortable to participate independently.

Beatrice Klepper is a classically trained vocalist and experienced conductor, specialising in choral music education and early childhood music pedagogy. Her academic journey began with a focus on opera singing and art song interpretation, where she studied as a soprano for two years before transitioning to a mezzo-soprano for four years. This extensive vocal training provided her with a rich understanding of vocal technique and repertoire.

Building upon her performance background, Beatrice pursued a Bachelor's degree in Elemental Music Pedagogy, a field that combines music education with practical application. This program equipped her with the skills to lead children's choirs and instrumental ensembles, conduct music education sessions, and teach beginner-level singing and instrumental techniques.

After completing her studies, Beatrice furthered her expertise by earning a second Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Teaching. This qualification enabled her to integrate her musical training with early childhood education, fostering a holistic approach to teaching and learning.

In her professional career, Beatrice has performed in various opera productions and recitals, showcasing her versatility and passion for music. Her dedication to choral music is evident in her role as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the German Youth Choir Brisbane, where she leads young singers in exploring German choral repertoire, developing vocal skills, and building confidence through performance.

Beatrice's multifaceted background in vocal performance, music pedagogy, and early childhood education uniquely positions her to inspire and guide the next generation of musicians in the German Youth Choir Brisbane.
